Forum Notes: Cooking with the Sun: Impacts on Health, Wealth and Education
with Marie-Ange Bingawaho

Executive Director of Solar Household Energy, she-inc.org

SECOND SUNDAY FORUM
Sunday, June 8, 2008, 6:30 to 8:30 pm

Solar cooking can improve quality of life and relieve stress on the environment. Currently, more than half of the world's population relies on biomass (wood, animal dung and crop residue) for cooking, but this simple technology is changing lives in Mexico, Central America and Africa. Join us to learn how and to see solar cookers in action. You may want to start using one yourself!

Marie-Ange (in white dress) starts her talk about the solar ovens developed by Solar Household Energy. In the oven on the left she is cooking is a delicious lentil stew, which we got to taste!

Barbara brought in, and talked about, a different kind of solar oven made with recycled materials. On the left we can more closely see the pot that comes with the Solar Household Energy solar oven--actually the pot and four of its reflections in the shiny surface of the oven.
