WHAT WE OFFER

A large, vibrant community of like-minded people exists in Maryland and Washington D.C.
We're inside and outside the DC beltway, in Baltimore, and growing into Frederick and other areas.
Simplicity Matters is an association of volunteers who offer you:

1. Discussion circles -- the unique experience of deep conversations with 7-11 other adults, about topics that really matter.

2. Monthly forums about various topics, open to the public at large
Bethesda Second Sunday Forum, 6:30-8:30 PM
Baltimore Green Forum, at Towson, usually last Sunday of each month, 4:30-6:30 PM

3. Monthly announcement listing events of interest to our community, as well as discussion circles forming

4. Lively virtual communities
DCMetroSimplifiers, our yahoogroup about simple living
greencitybaltimore, a virtual green Baltimore community

Jerry with a juggling pin on his nose
One of the activities at our Annual Statewide Simple Picnic was a juggling lesson led by Jerry Raitzyk. What would you rather do: juggle your load more efficiently, or juggle fewer things? (To learn to juggle better, contact Jerry. To learn to simplify what you juggle, explore this site.)

One Maryland circle -- in Middletown -- has already completed this guide. Some of their comments: "I am much more aware of food, buying habits, ecology. I am mindful of the food I eat, and I started growing herbs. I'm aware of the things I buy, and gas consumption. I've made good friends, and look forward to groups." "It was so wonderful to find kindred spirits. The experience of deep conversation and sharing ideas was so much more than I expected."
"I've really enjoyed meeting like-minded people. This is my 'community' and I look forward to the discussions each week." "I loved this circle and this book. I didn't know anything about GMO or how farming is done. I also didn't understand how inefficient beef is. I'm now only eating meat once a day." "I've really enjoyed meeting the friendly people involved in this group. I liked the range of articles and the pace of the reading."
"For me the most valuable aspect of this course was realizing [again] how clueless most people are!" "The readings were good. Listening to the experiences of others in the group, who were at different places, was invaluable to me." "This is the best NWEI course so far."
